Left Unsaid

Words, they were left hanging.
And breaths, they paused, waiting.
For bodies that are further than it should be,
Or hearts that’s too in deep than it should be,
To either come close or grow apart.

Their hands craving to explore further,
Lips expecting to embrace another’s,
Yet in despair, they remain;
For every step they take closer,
The more they risk never taking another.

Crossing lines and taking chances,
Paying prices and making sacrifices,
All to end up on ice too thin?
Maybe for a day, a fortnight, or a season,
But will it stand in the heat of reason?

Now they stand, listening,
Feeling every thread that binds them,
To each other and everyone.
with every slack, they nudge in closer,
But how close can they ever be?

The scarcity that always was,
Of time together they could be.
They spent years apart,
Living off of couple of days together.
Could a couple of years be enough for a lifetime?
